« The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is a multi disciplinary arts education and development centre based on 178 acres of farm and forest in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Our facilities and programs are designed to serve the artistic and cultural communities of Nova Scotia, of Canada, and of the world, with a focus on professional artist development, youth education and Aboriginal arts programming.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and engaged person to lead community and outreach programming. The ideal candidate will be an artist/educator with a strong curriculum development and visual arts background.

The successful applicant will have a passion for working and living in rural Nova Scotia and for engaging the wider community through the arts. The position includes school programs which coordinate with our gallery exhibits, meaningful and accessible arts programming at regional festivals, community arts days at the centre, special projects etc. It is a collaborative work environment, with a strong community base in a wonderful and vibrant rural community. The position includes a three month trial period and then a two year commitment is preferred. We can provide accommodation for a few beginning weeks of the position onsite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with children and implementation of arts based curriculum
  • Gallery interest and ability to work with artists to create multidimensional and educational programs based on the gallery exhibits
  • Interest in multidisciplinary approaches to arts education
  • Own transportation and willingness to live in a dynamic small community in rural NS
  • A passion for the arts, for rural living, and for facilitating youth and community interaction with the arts
  • Canadian Citizen or equivalent work status
  • Clean criminal background check
