» The event, Giving Voice to our Arts and Culture, brought together 40 artists and arts and cultural organizations to explore shared challenges and ways of working together to address them.
Artists and arts organizations in the North face particular challenges, such as isolation, high travel costs and lack of arts materials and professional services, to name a few. The Canada Council recognizes this and we’ve been working with our partners in Nunavut and NWT over the past few years to improve the way we design and deliver our programs and services in the North. The NWT gathering is one example of this kind of collaboration (the 4th of its kind), as is a recently announced travel grants partnership with the Government of Nunavut. »
