Two of the most important things you can do for yourself as an artist are to ensure that you are paid fairly for your work, and to make sure your administration is up to date. This workshop, led by lawyers through Pro Bono Ontario, will walk you through some of the important legal issues that you should understand as a practicing artist. The workshop will focus on how to create contracts that ensure you are paid fairly for your work, understanding important legal elements about your arts business practice, and ensuring that you have the correct and up to date paper work for your arts business practice to thrive.

Are you a youth collective or youth led organizations who is wondering how to incorporate into a non profit or charity? Do you want to learn what are the legal responsibilities of each and figure out which path is right for your group?
Lawyers for the Arts for Youth Organizations is a workshop that focuses on supporting youth led groups or grassroots organizations in figuring out the next step to develop their organization. This workshop will outline the steps to become a charity or not for profit, explain the legal responsibilities of each, and answer any questions participants may have about legal rights when offering workshops or performances as a group (such as contract laws, fair payment and tax implications, etc.)
ArtReach is now offering two streams of our GOAL workshop series: the first stream is tailored to individual artists, and the second for artists working in a group or with an organization. All are welcome to attend workshops in either stream.
*These workshops are for youth ages 13-29
This workshop is part of the larger GOAL (Grassroots Organizing and Leadership) Youth Workshop Series being organized by a collaborative group made up of youth organizations and funders. A certificate will be provided to participants who attend 5 or more workshops in the series. For more information, contact Paulina O’Kieffe at info@artreach.org »
