A creative approach to funding options for mural artists– this session will explore funding streams, grant writing, and approaching prospective clients

Who: This session is intended for emerging and mid-career mural artists or project managers interested in securing resources to complete mural projects.
The workshop will be led by Linda Plater, Coordinator for the Village of Islington BIA, Toronto’s Village of Murals. Over the past 10 years the BIA has coordinated the creation of 27 murals – 15,000 square feet of outdoor art transforming the area into an outdoor gallery. Linda will facilitate conversations about the funding process while sharing her experience in grant applications, working with the City of Toronto and local business communities.

What: This three-part workshop series will provide an introduction to Photoshop for visual artists. Learn basic skills such as menus, tools, palettes, and layers from an experienced graphic designer and mural artist. Walk away with new skills to support your artistic practice, and the ability to present your design on a wall for your next mural proposal.
When: Thursday, Feburary 7th, 9th and 16th, 6:00-8:30pm (participants must attend all three classes)

About the Instructor: Karen Roberts has worked as a professional photographer and multimedia specialist for over two decades. She has taught photography and Photoshop with the TDSB, Seneca College and the Mississauga Living Arts Centre.
