Established in 1992, Art Starts is recognized as one of Toronto’s leading community arts organizations. The Toronto Arts Foundation recognized Art Starts with its 2013 Arts for Youth Award.

Position Summary: The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Art Starts? event and marketing initiatives for programs, fund development, general marketing, branding and publicity. We are seeking an inspired and enthusiastic individual with an extraordinary ability to communicate, a love for detail and someone who is a team player who can tackle a job from start to finish.

Applicants must currently be in receipt of Ontario Works (OW) and residents of The City of Toronto

Position Type: Contract

Hours per week: 24
Compensation: $17/hr

Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communication

  • Coordinate Art Starts’ marketing and communications initiatives for programs, projects, fundraising campaigns, events and maintaining archive all related materials.
  • Work with the Director of Operations to ensure cohesive communications and branding of Art Starts
  • Produce and disseminate media releases & press kits
  • Build and maintain relationships with media
  • Represent Art Starts at community events
  • Other duties as assigned

Event Management

  • Coordinate event logistics & provide on-site support for all Art Starts programming and fundraising events
  • Manage all event timelines

Requirements

  • University degree or College diploma is an asset
  • 2+ years marketing and communications experience and/or events management is an asset
  • Dedicated, enthusiastic & responsible with superior organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently, multitask and set priorities
  • Strong team player
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of and appreciation for the role of the arts in community building
  • Candidate must be available to do occasional evening and weekend work
  • Applicants must currently be in receipt of Ontario Works
